What is SEL Tutoring?
Social and emotional tutoring (SEL) is a process that our tutors teach students how to develop the fundamental skills for life effectiveness in 5 domains.

SEL tutors assist students on understanding that we all need to handle ourselves, our relationships, and our work effectively and ethically. Students can strengthen their social competencies to connect across
race, class, culture, language, gender identity, sexual orientation, learning needs and age.

Kyana Benjamin
I'm Kyana, one of the new SEL tutors. I'm working primarily with the first and second graders on social-emotional skills like social skills and self-regulation. I am also a master's student at NMSU for clinical mental health counseling. I'm excited to be a part of the team.
Christina Gonzalez
Hello, my name is Christina Gonzalez. I am currently at New Mexico State University studying School Psychology. As a Social Emotional Tutor at Conlee, I work with the students to help increase their social skills, learn more about their emotions and teach them more about how to express their emotions in healthy ways.
Kirsten Clegg
Hi, I’m Kirsten and I work as one of the Social Emotional Tutors at Conlee. I’m currently a master's student at NMSU studying Mental Health Counseling and I’m excited to work with students to help them build strong relationships with their peers, develop coping skills for things like test anxiety, and provide them with a space to share their thoughts and feelings.
Shannon Esparza
Hi, my name is Shannon Esparza, and I am a social-emotional tutor at Conlee Elementary. I am a first-year clinical mental health counseling student in NMSU's graduate program, and I am very excited to be working here at Conlee. My goal is to be a source of support to students, to practice communication and social skills with them, and to increase emotional awareness and coping skills.

Hi, my name is Zoe Abeyta, and I am a School Psychology graduate student at NMSU. As an SEL tutor, I provide support to students by teaching them about self-awareness, social-awareness, and coping skills.
